Gear Music Player App Reviews

Great app! Thanks!

I have a few wishes: – add recommended section (home in google music site); – add support to thumbs up or down in status bar (it will be very useful if you working on several screens);

Fa quello che deve

Tre stelle perché fa quello che deve fare, ma è graficamente orrenda e soprattutto manca la possibilità di navigare per artisti. The user interface is horrible and lacks browse by artist functionality, but the app works just fine.

Give me the option to turn off these ugly Play icons in the interface

They just mess up my sensibilities… I want the ability to turn this off…you can most likely figure out a better way of letting us know what the source of the music is… maybe text? maybe a more monochrome (black & white) icon? Also… why is there so much space in between the albums? You see what iTunes does? Do exactly what they do… there doesn’t need to be like a football field in between one album and the next. Also… why does the song & album title show up in the menu bar (but no album cover), but there’s a random album cover in the bottom left hand corner with no text? Like seriously you have iTunes right there which is showing you what to do design wise… either do it better than them or copy them. Also they make you install Magic Keys to use the keyboard shortcuts… Radiant Player (open source client) doesn’t make me do that… why do I need to install a separate application?

Great app!

It works perfectly and worth every penny! The All Access feature was the main reason I downloaded it and Im really happy with it. Thanks to the developer.

Great with suggestions for improvement

No complaints on the functionality. It works quite well Please add the ability to adjust the size of the colums in the song-list view. Being able to see more than 1 column of albums in that view would greatly improve the browsing experience. More sorting options. Sorting albums by name should definitely be possible. Maybe I’m missing something here... Sometimes adjusting the size of the album art causes some albums to disappear off the edge of the app. Clicking the albumn art under now playing should take you to the album that’s playing. Transitions could be smoother, but that’s not a big deal. Edit: Developer response has been great. Understandably still a work in progress.

Works Great

Simply works great Could use some more color options though

No support for browsing Google music / All access .

This app lacks a majour feature of browsing latest songs, albums, playlists on Googl All acess music. It can only show you your library songs. There is only option to search music library. But if you are looking for finding good songs, latest popular albums, etc.. then this app will not show you anything. I think the other play music app gTunes does a good job here though it looks like a browser. Dear developer.. so why dont you load the browser itself in this All Acess page ? Other things.. Too TINY FONTS. The world is moving towards bigger fonts, but this app using very small fonts. The song progress bar and the name are disconnected and too far from each other. Does not support drag and drop of songs to playlist. No delete option on songs. There is no mini player.

Great Music App!

I hate playing music in the browser. This app brings usability for Google Music on the Macs. And it’s performing better than iTunes.

Congrats - hard work and customer interaction pays off!

After much hard work, many updates and great interaction with the user community the developers of G-ear have graduated to the big-leagues. G-ear is now a fully functional, fully polished - and now even a great looking - Google Music client. Excellent job- and keep up the great work.

Perfection

I’ve been using G-Ear since November 2012 and this has been my go to program for Google Music ever since. I can have all of music with me playing through a beautiful interface, while taking up minimal hard drive space on my Macbook Air. I would recommend this to any Google Music user.

Slowly but surely

When I first downloaded this mac app I was kind of dissapointed. It was lacking a lot of features that are included in the web version, not to mention aesthetically it looked really gross. It’s been getting updated VERY frequently and is finally starting to really be worth it. I can tell the developer cares about making the product worth it even to people that have already purchased it. I would recommend this hands down to any mac user with google play all access. It’s a fantastic alternative to using the web and I’m slowly starting to use it more frequently than logging into my browser. 5 stars for constant updates and support as well as being the best google music player on the mac app store market.

Loving it!!

I love the fact you added a Black Theme.. Cant express how much I want to change my entire MacBook Pro to a black theme. Besides that everything has worked great. I use Google Music every day with a subscription and absoutly hate using Firefox to stream music. The sign in process went smoothly, Im very glad you were able to keep the 2-step authentication in working order. A lot of applications mess signing in to google simply because of that. So if anyone uses 2-step do not worry, it works like a charm. As for the player itself? Its laid out in a very well, Playlists work, I have my all access and everything is in working order. If i can suggest one thing?? Keep up the good work! Thanks again for an app to listen to google music! 5 stars all the way!!

Active development. Up and Coming. Gapless!

This app is the only one I’ve found that will do gapless playback of Google Music on ANY platform at the moment. For that feat alone, it deserves five stars. Its still evolving, but it’s full featured and stable enough to be my go-to music player. Excellent work.

Very solid and useful, but kind of ugly.

Overall, G-Ear Player works great. I’m really impressed with how solid it is, definitely worth $5, if not more. The only major drawback for me is how ugly the app is. It doesn’t quite fit in with most Cocoa apps and the icon is pretty ugly.

Fantastic

Love the themes, plays all access better, and best of all NO FLASH!

Awesome App for Google Music!

Thanks for the Fast Api Fix!! This app is awesome!!!!

Very great app made by people that really care

I have used the app for a while now and have been very pleased with it. Then the other day it had an error that said it couldn’t load my library. So I emailed the team and they literally responded within one minute telling me that Google’s API changed earlier that day. Within an hour they sent me a pre-release build with the necessary changes so that I could continue to enjoy my music while Apple approved the app updated. I was just very impressed with the lengths they went to keep me happy. I highly recommend this app to anyone looking for a Google Music app. They will not be disappointed at all!

Works perfectly with All Access

Everything about this app is essentially perfect. It supports all aspects of Google Play Music All Access. Its great to have a native app as opposed to hunting for the one browser window in which youre playing a song. As a bonus, theres a Magic Keys app you can download that enables control with the Apple back/play/forward media keys, and gives you the option of displaying the song info in the menu bar. Very cool. Also, as other people have said, the developer is super-responsive.

Fantastic app, quick bugfixes, better than Goopy!

I have this app and Goopy (the only other Google Music app on the app store at present), and this one is KILOMETRES better. That, and a couple days ago there was an API change that rendered both unfunctional. G-Ear got an update lightning-quick and is back up-and-running, Goopys yet to receive one and if its past record is any inidication, wont for quite a while. Thanks dev, youre awesome!!

Great app overall, but some improvements could be done. PLEASE READ

So everything has worked perfectly for me now, but if it is possible for Google to allow you to access there “Listen Now” code, along with the “Start Radio” function and implement it into this that would be great. Otherwise great job! I would give 5, but for me until those are implemented its a 4.
